I have social anxiety and so its hard for me to pick up the phone and call a sponsor or something. I have been searching for online chat rooms for alcoholics but have had trouble finding one. I remember back in the day whe “aol” was the popular internet gig and they had tons of chat rooms. Can anyone please direct me to a site or something where I can talk to other alocholics or someone that can help me online?

According to a U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, over 22% of people living in Florida 12 years of age or older have participated in binge drinking (5 or more drinks in a single occasion) on at least 1 day in the past 30 days. What is more alarming is that, although drug use have decreased in recent years, the abuse of alcohol among teenagers is worse than ever. This means that more actions have to be made in order to avoid alcohol addiction, particularly among youths. In only 6 to 18 months of drinking, an adolescent may become thoroughly addicted to alcohol, while an adult can take 5 to 15 years of drinking to become an alcoholic.

Undergoing a full recovery program is critical in overcoming an addiction to alcohol. Addiction is not a simple problem and its treatment could not be so straightforward: this is why, for a rehab center to provide effective treatment, it needs to have a variety of programs that can address all aspects of the addiction. Question by Melanie: anyone in recovery from addiction?
i just got to 8 months clean from all substances i developed a bad problem with painkillers and occasional cocaine use also smoked weed heavily daily and drank occcasionally… although wat i have learned about recovery tells me that the way to stay clean is to abstain from ALL mood and mind altering substances including weed and alcohol I really would like to be able to drink/smoke again since the harder drugs were my real problem. i would like to hear from anyone who can relate if they have gone through this or what their opinions are.
