I’m a 16 year old male. I’ve had to put up with experiences of seing my brother rot away in alcohol. Many days of seing him drinking litre bottles of vodka, through the little space in the door. He’s been doing this a long time now and it’s breaking our family’s emotions, he is very selfish and carefree i truly think as he does not listen to people in various occassions of heavy drinking, my sister is just neglecting him now as she has helped him so much in the past, but enough is enough for her, because he just keeps repeating himself.
He has been to rehab for 6 months previously.

I know people who go to N.A. and A.A. and it is free, 2 of them even receive SSI payments as they are too “addicted” to work. I on the other hand, have a food addiction. I’m morbidly obese because of it, but Weight Watchers meetings charge me money to attend. Drug addicts have clinics they can go to for free medical care, I have to pay to go to gym. Mine addiction I’m told is one I can give up with will power, but they have a “disease”..I want to know why is it different? I am so tired of trying only to be shut down at every try and my health insurance would pay for me to go in rehab, but not for weight loss clinic or program. I feel like I should start being a druggie to get any help!
Let me give you a few details. I care for my 80 yr old mother and my 2 grandkids as their parents are off on drugs somewhere and I only get $335 from state to help pay for their care. I work 2 jobs just to pay bills and 1 of them is at fast food, the other is for insurance office. I cannot afford to buy better insurance and not eligible for state insurance because they say I make too much. By the end of working 14 hours a day M-F and 8 on Sat, plus all the housework, I am just too tired to work out. And there are plenty of free services for bulimia and anorxia, but not for food addition. I’m not making excuses I just want to know why the system is step up this way.
I eat for free at restaurant job and with the amount I earn I have to because the money has to go to pay for rent/utilities and childcare the state only allows me 40hours a week for the 2 kids. My grocery budget for 4 of us is $50 a week, so we eat as cheap as possible and yes that means alot of canned foods and such. People need to get off their high horses and walk a mile in someone elses shoes.

Several recent tragedies have occurred in our community. A death due to prescription drug addiction and overdose, other recent prescription drug overdoses resulting in hospitalization, one a probable suicide attempt, one resulting in brain damage, and several non-fatal overdoses are affecting many lives. Countless other drug users are walking around and driving, on the same roads as you and I, stoned, loaded on their legal drugs. The disease of drug addiction (alcoholism is just alcohol addiction) is treatable. The excruciating pain to the family, as well as to the addict himself, that results from the consequences of addiction can be resolved.
To understand this problem of prescription drug abuse, let's look at an analogy from the physical. If you have an injured wrist or ankle, go to your doctor and get a script for narcotic pain relievers, the pain will be reduced, even though the fracture, sprain or dislocation itself is not treated. If you continue to take the narcotics, continuing to use your ankle or wrist, you will need ongoing medication. The injury continues to hurt, less so when you are using higher doses of narcotics, but the underlying problem is never diagnosed or treated. You keep taking, indefinitely, a medication that is not helping to treat the injury.

one of my best friends is really struggling with her addiction…she wants to stop but she is really having a hard time…im making her a mixtape but i need ideas on songs..she really likes the hardcore rock and screamo type..help?
There are ongoing misconceptions about what level of drinking is considered abuse. Alcohol, being one of the most intoxicating and available legal drugs, has diluted general conceptions about where the line is drawn and how much is too much.
Since alcohol is in so many social gathering places, its abuse cycle in most cultures usually starts as an occasional social drinking session that soon elevates. Some start out in college with binge drinking simply as something to do or a way of initiation or an expression of freedom. Eventually this can initiate them into an abusive system where alcohol addiction treatment needs to be administered.

I heard it on the radio 4 or 5 months ago on 95 wiil rock. It is a slow song sounding like his girlfriend is helping him at night through one of his ordeals. Sounds like it could be staind or something around that nature.

What can i do or give him that will help with the withdrawls and won’t cause him to become addicted to what is helping him. 1 addiction i can handle but getting addicted to pills after being addicted to alcohol im not sure if ill be able to handle that! and for 12 step programs I dont think so! I minus well just let him die! The only modivation he has is me(our love & Christ) and im not sure sending him away would be the smartest thing to do! Any advice will be appreciated!
