Article by Woodring Moothart

When you are searching for an alcohol and drug rehab program, it is important that you select a facility that will best suit the needs of the person in need of treatment. Whether it’s you, a family member or friend, the most important part of the selection process is ensuring that the facility will be able to offer not only a quality treatment program, but also a professional counseling and support system throughout the entire rehabilitation process.

One of the best ways to find a quality alcohol & drug rehab facility is through the referral of a physician, many of whom will offer a recommendation as to the best treatment options for an individual following a determination as to his/her level of alcohol and/or drug dependency. Without the recommendation of a physician, individuals will have to search for a treatment facility on their own. One way of doing this is by looking through the yellow pages of a local telephone book or searching the web for local treatment facilities.

While each alcohol & drug rehab treatment program is different, the basic fundamentals are the same. Most facilities have a strict list of guidelines that every patient must adhere to including which items can and cannot be brought onto the premises. This is especially true of an inpatient treatment facility, which offers housing to patients. Most programs begin with a detoxification process, often referred to simply as ‘detox,’ which is followed by a treatment program customized to the patient’s needs. During this time, counseling sessions and various activities will be participated in by the patient in order to show them the benefits of living a drug and alcohol free life.

According to their level of dependency, patients may be required to attend an inpatient program. As mentioned previously, this entails the patient actually residing on the property during the treatment process. During this time, there is 24-hour supervision with inpatient care. Outpatient treatment, on the other hand, is for individuals who are able to continue living their life, attending school or work and everyday functions without the concern of substance abuse. An outpatient treatment program allows for an individual to live at home and attend regular counseling meetings, such as AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) or other treatment program. The decision between an inpatient or outpatient treatment program will depend heavily on the level of addiction and the patient’s ability to resist alcohol and drugs without constant supervision.

This article is to be used for informational purposes only. The information contained herein should not be used as, in place of or in conjunction with professional medical advice regarding the treatment for alcohol and drug abuse. Prior to selecting a quality alcohol & drug rehab facility, individuals should consult a licensed medical doctor for a proper diagnosis and recommendation for treatment.

It is very unlucky to understand that there are many people who look down on alcohol and drug addicts. These people typically think that these addicts are hopeless cases and are scumbags of the universe. For this, they right away think that the best means to get rid of these people is to place them in jail.

However, putting them in jail isn’t at all times the perfect answer. This can be because when they are imprisoned, they really are not going to get any better. In few cases, these people turn to the employ of drugs and alcohol since they are intensely bothered by some issues in their life. Since they’re not strong enough to handle these issues, they turn to the employ of drugs as a temporary escape. Rather than putting them in jail, it’s best to give them alcohol addiction treatment.

Treatment is the most effective option for these people, significantly those who have been brave enough to seek the help of their loved ones. The first step to addiction assist is to admit that they have a trouble and an addiction. In doing thus, they are showing that they actually need to change and stop their addiction. This can be why they need to be properly treated instead of put behind bars.

So as to offer alcohol addiction treatment, the individual should be confined in a highly reliable therapy center. This can be because these centers have been able to help thousands of people handle their addiction problems. When the correct center has been chosen, the individual can be able to recharge himself and find the guidance that he wants for his life. When he comes out from rehab, he will be a fresh man who could be a lot stronger than the last.

Rather than putting addicts in jail, it is best to provide them addiction help. This can be significantly true if they have voluntarily sought the assistance of a expert. After they do this, it solely suggests that that they are prepared to move to a higher step. They have admitted to themselves that they have a problem with drugs or alcohol. The following step will be to treat the problem.

With so many issues affecting people, it is only common why there are some who would fall weak. As a means to build their character, they need to get the help they need from a skilled. By selecting the top rehab center, the concerned individual will be ready to get the addiction help he requires. This will enable him to change for the better and stop relying on his addiction as an escape from reality. When all, these people usually simply need the companion and guidance of another person. Through the rehab facility, they will be ready to get this.

Question by : Rehab centers for drug & alcohol addiction?
My sister, who is 16. Is addicted to drugs and alcohol but mostly drugs. She doesn’t realize it but I read all the signs and she is one. She’s barely home and when she is she is getting high, when she’s away she’s drinking or doing drugs or both. She’s done weed. E. Shrooms & coke that I know of. She has over dosed twice already. And has been doing drugs and alcohol for a year, since she was 15, she’s turning 17 in Dec. She doesn’t have a job but my mom gives her a 20$ weekly allowance(which I think she shouldnt give to support her habit)Since my mom won’t do anything, I wanna find a rehab center for her, where you don’t need the person addicted concent. I live in Winnipeg Manitoba and would like one where she lives there until she is better. How much will it cost? And what is the number so I can call & ask questions?

Thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by Jennifer Howser
First off, you need to speak to a professional. A professional will tell you if your sister is really an addict and will tell you what options are available to you. She can most likely get free assistance living in Canada, but it depends where. Unfortunately, you tend to have to pay for the good places, but it’s worth it since it means recovering.

Article by John Williamson

Alcoholic beverage is one of the most popular substances that people drink whenever they socialize with their friends, love ones and even with strangers. Despite having neurological effects, many people continue to drink alcohol without even considering their tolerance level. As a direct result, a lot of individuals live a life that is greatly influenced by substance dependence. Fortunately, people who seek for alcohol treatment may now enrol in substance abuse programs which could possibly lead them to a better and healthier life.

Alcohol addiction program is generally not a new concept. If you look closely around your surroundings, you will immediately notice the presence of many alcohol treatment centers with each of them offering various methods of treatment. Alcohol rehab is not a simple walk in the park. It involves an intricate process of therapy and counselling which usually takes months or even years to finish. While undergoing detox, the patient will suffer from withdrawal symptoms which are a direct result of substance deprivation when suffering from alcoholism.

Here are the most common symptoms:

During the first 12 hours of detox, the patient may encounter several symptoms such as convulsions and high fever. The patient will also develop a strange feeling of anxiety and restlessness. Because he/she is deprived of the very substance that makes him/her feel better, his/her body will start craving for that substance and will act abnormally when the craving is not satisfied immediately. In dangerous cases, a patient may develop depression which could potentially be harmful to him/her. Regular monitoring and vigilance is important in order to ensure the full safety and health of the patient.

During detox, the body is rid of all the toxins that contributed to alcohol addiction. The patient will experience various physical changes in the body such as loss of appetite, weight loss, increased blood pressure and paleness of the skin. He/she may also suffer from stress and fatigue which further weakens the body. A balanced diet is very important as it will help satisfy the daily nutritional requirement of the patient. The patient will also need to get adequate rest. If there is difficulty in sleeping, an attending physician can administer sleeping pills provided that it will not cause any harm to the patient. In some cases, Thiamine is administered to the patient in order to provide a nutritional boost to the individual.

It is very important to know that withdrawal symptoms may vary from person to person. There is no general timetable for detox as it can be only be decided on a case to case basis. The duration of alcohol usage may also be significant factor in the degree of symptoms that a person may encounter. Heavy drinkers tend to suffer from life-threatening symptoms while moderate drinkers get the milder ones. The only certain thing is that all individuals who undergo an alcohol addiction program will have to deal with these symptoms in order to achieve healing and recovery. By getting the help of a certified alcohol detox center, you can eliminate the problem of alcohol addiction, slowly but surely.

Question by Greg C: Alcohol rehab without health insurance?
My friend needs to go into rehab for an alcohol addiction. Unfortunately, he recently lost his job (doesn’t get Cobra; not sure what the deal is with that) and his health insurance will soon be terminated, I think at the end of this week. What are his options, aside from shelling out five figures?

Oh, and it’s important to note that he’s never really in a crisis situation, like where he has to go to the ER to get his stomach pumped… he just drinks heavily throughout the day when left to his own devices. He’s agreed he needs help, but the health insurance thing is getting in the way.

thanks for advice.

Best answer:

Answer by Artemisc
I had the same situation with a friend. I called the county alcohol abuse hot line, they hooked me up with a facility that would charge it to the state. They had a bed available and he went in that night. Granted, it was only for 7 days but it had a positive effect, and didn’t cost him anything.

One thing to keep in mind, if he isn’t ready, they don’t push it. It won’t work unless he wants to do it.

Article by Adolphpaul

Some of us have had the misfortune of seeing a person addicted to either drugs or alcohol from close quarters. And some of us have had the grave misfortune of being addicted ourselves. While the problems that a drug or alcohol addicted person has to put up cannot be underestimated, the fact of the matter is that millions of people have successfully got back their normal lives because of the treatment that they have received at rehab centers.

In the last decade, many people fell prey to OxyContin because they could get it easily and also because they could get 12 hours of drug at one go by simply crushing the pill and injecting or sniffing it. One of the people who was trapped in this net was Shawn Clusky. He was only seventeen when he started taking this pill and eventually got addicted. At last he could get rid of the addiction after going to a rehab.

If you wish to undergo proper drug treatment or alcohol treatment; you should choose a really good rehab center because this is the best way to ensure a happy and normal life. When you are looking for rehab center, you should ask some important questions.

The first question that you should ask is whether they customize the treatment plans for all the patients. This is important because all the people who need drug treatment or alcohol treatment do not have similar problems. Most people have unique reasons for becoming dependant on addictive substances. Therefore, the drug treatment or the alcohol treatment should be designed according to the unique problem that the patient faces.

You should also ask about what steps are taken to ensure that the patient will be able to resist the temptation of doing drugs or getting drunk even after leaving the rehab center. This is important because the patient has to be ready to take on the challenge of living in a world where he will have access to the very substances that he should assiduously avoid. Usually one-on-one counseling enables patients to understand the nature of their problem and also learn the techniques they ought to use to deal with the addiction.

Apart from providing drug treatment or alcohol treatment, good rehab centers also enable patients to get back to normal life by arranging for fitness programs. Hence, choose the right rehab center so that you or the person you love gets to live a happy life again!

Alcohol Awareness Month Tips from Journey Healing CentersHow to Help Loved Ones with a Drinking Problem

With nearly 14 million Americans – 1 in 13 adults – abusing alcohol according to the NIAA(National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism), Journey Healing Centers releases tips for addressing this disease and treatment resistance with loved ones who have a drinking problem during April’s Alcohol Awareness Month and beyond. Everyone knows someone who drinks too much, yet less than 25% of those who deserve alcohol treatment get help according to the NIAA. To educate everyone on the costs and facts about alcoholism, these tips provide information for how to get loved ones back and address the top three resistors to treatment. 1. “It’s not a disease.” – Many still resist help because of the perception that alcoholism is not really a disease and is associated with a social stigma. Even though the World Health Organization has officially classified alcoholism as a disease, many deny reality. Alcoholism is a chronic, often progressive disease with a strong need to drink despite negative consequences. The three drinking problem signs are cravings, loss of control, and physical dependence.2. “I don’t have time.” – If someone says they don’t have time for treatment, remind the alcoholic of how much time is invested on a daily, weekly and monthly basis getting drunk. Another effective approach is to bring up how long getting drunk has been their top priority over relationships with loved ones. When calculated in days, compare this large number to a 30, 60 or 90-day treatment program, and it won’t seem so long.3. “I don’t have the money.” – If the alcoholic is concerned about costs, check out non-profits or treatment programs that accept insurance while simultaneously pointing out how much money is spent on a daily, weekly and monthly basis getting drunk. Many private treatment centers offer financing options as well. “When a loved one’s life is at stake with addiction, families always find a way to cover treatment costs. It’s a very low fee when compared to the cost of drinking or even losing the person to addiction,” Lisa Lannon, Co-Founder Journey Healing Centers shares, “Spending the money on my husband’s treatment was one of the best investments I have ever made. It saved not only our marriage, but his life.” Alcohol-related problems cost the US economy an estimated 5 billion annually in lost productivity and earnings according to the US Department of Health and Human Services, which makes it difficult to overlook the real cost of alcohol addiction. If alcoholism is ignored, the emotional scars can take families decades or even a lifetime to heal. As Dr. Ravi Chandiramani, Journey Healing Centers Medical Director, explains, “The goal is to offer effective treatment options for alcoholism at a cost and within a timeframe that allows the majority of those seeking treatment for their disease to choose into treatment and thereby choose into life.”Background: Journey Healing Centers operates drug rehab and alcohol rehab centers in Arizona and Utah, and has been featured on MTV’s Gone Too Far, PBS, ABC News 15 Phoenix and in People Magazine.
Alcoholism or also commonly known as alcohol addiction can be considered one of the most serious problems or disease one person could ever have. It is fatal – if you’re a non-drinker, or not an alcoholic, then probably you won’t understand why people do not have the will to just stop drinking or just stop their urge of alcohol intake each and every day. Being an alcoholic can be frustrating as it may seem. Although some people already wanted to stop their vice, they simply cannot because being an alcohol addict is just more than controlling yourself and stopping your urge to drink beer or wine, or whatever content you are addicted to. Sometimes, for alcoholics, alcohol already has become a part of their life, and became one of the basics needs such as air, water and food. But, there are some great ways on how people can stop this and cure this psychological problem – an alcohol rehab.

If you have heard of a drug rehabilitation center, then probably you will greatly understand what an alcohol rehab is. This is the best place to go for someone who wants to personally seek help and get rid of this alcohol addiction problem. If personally you think you need with regard to your drinking problems, or you know someone who might need a hand to recover from this habit, then an alcohol rehab can be there to help you resolve the problem that you’ve been having ever since. You have to understand, that sometimes, friends want to stop the bad habit of addictive drinking, but just shy to tell you. You have to be sensitive about what they feel if you are about to talk to one of your friends or your loved ones (who are alcohol addicts) about the possible resolution and provide them the information that they may need.

Entering an alcohol rehab is a process, and there are certain things that one must know in order to complete this process successfully:

Your first most important thing is to find the right alcohol rehab center within your area. Sometimes, you may need to go over the internet to search for the best centers available. There are resources over the World Wide Web suggesting the best and the most reputable rehab centers worldwide.

Once that you’ve already chosen a center, you must fully understand that when it comes to treating these kinds of people, there are certain programs that must be followed. There is a particular “curriculum” (if put in school) that must be done and specific standards to be met. Treatment and care remains the same no matter what kind of rehab center you’ll go. There will be special cases, but that will only be taken care of if the case is extreme and the program cannot treat the addiction.

Therapy, discussions, psychology sessions and detoxification are just some of the activities that are normally being done inside an alcohol rehab center. These programs are the ones that will help that alcohol addictive person to get over the unwanted craving or urge for alcohol, recover and go on with life.

Article by Tony Tracy

Alcohol addiction should not be taken lightly as alcoholism itself should be treated as serious as a life threatening disease.

The longer one has been suffering, due to the addiction, the more rooted the disease will become and the more powerful of a need for proper alcohol treatment options. Suitable alcoholism addiction treatment increases the chances of maintaining successful continuous recovery from the addiction to this substance.

Finding suitable alcohol treatment options for alcoholism is not exactly an easy task as not every individuals’ needs are the same.

Alcoholism addiction treatment centers need to utilize proven and capable techniques for favorable rehabilitation results. A well known program in the treatment world is the twelve step program from the organization alcoholics anonymous. The main goal of any residential treatment clinic is enduring sobriety and that is why the need to be able to study and evaluate the potency of their program over the course of time needs to be thoroughly studied. The data collected from such evaluations will be enormously helpful to all other twelve step rehabilitation treatment centers since they will be able to address any flaws discovered in their treatment programs as they implement them.

Another example of a popular treatment for alcohol addiction is alcoholism detoxification.

Alcoholism detoxification centers, or better known as detox centers, for alcohol addicted individuals’ are only effective if the alcoholic is prepared to stop the drinking once and for all. Detoxification centers will often prescribe drugs or medicines that will create similar experiences to drinking alcohol and aid in minimising or preventing withdrawal symptoms. This technique can be a very successful method in the initial stages of the treatment procedure. Alcoholic detoxification centers are usually private or state run organizations depending on the area that you reside in. To make sure you can easily check with your family doctor who should contain the most current information on these matters.

The sheer variety of treatment centers for alcoholism is as assorted as there are different methods for the treatment of alcoholism. Some clinics identify alcohol abuse as an actual disease and suggest a different treatment than for those who arrive at alcoholism as a social complication or personal choice.

Alcohol treatment options in a rehab center require a stern commitment for an entire change in lifestyle from the patient. Unfortunately, in the vast majority of cases alcohol addicted abusers will cease from drinking and stay sober for short bursts of time only to have the uncontrollable urges return once the stresses or pressures of daily life become too overbearing. For those individuals’ that carry on working within the confines of the twelve step program continue to receive a support system that helps them better deal with such daily anguishes as they come into being.

A final suitable alcoholism treatment option to consider is alcohol clinics.

Tending to alcoholism in the safe confines of alcohol clinics provides a great benefit as the alcoholic cannot renounce the identification from others suffering from alcohol abuse who are also in desperate need of proper treatment. Being able to identify that there is a problem without question is a monumental move forward into a continuous recovery from alcohol abuse or binge drinking and will absolutely provide reinforcement with the treatment already being received.

Keep in mind that the majority of facilities of treatment for alcohol addiction concentrate on being totally abstinent from alcohol. They also offer other alcohol treatment options such as life skills and social support as well as stimulating active participation in local twelve step support groups, such as Alcoholics Anonymous, in their never ending quest for suitable alcoholism addiction treatments.

Alcohol Addiction in a Nutshell

The condition is defined as the habitual intoxication or prolonged, excessive consumption of alcoholic drinks which inevitably leads to health repercussions. It is also said that when it is attempted to be treated through abrupt deprivation, the results may be of severe withdrawal symptoms.

This form of addiction is said to develop over time. When an individual drinks often, he or she may expect an addiction to alcohol to be underway. There are different reasons behind this. While some people start drinking because of peer pressure, there are also some who begin this habit because they see it as a form of coping mechanism. In such cases, the individual who seems unable to control his or her strong feelings resort to excessive alcohol consumption to help them deal with reality.

As previously mentioned, alcohol addiction can be traced back to history. Typical cases of such have several common features. These primarily revolve around physical alcohol dependence. The tern itself is descriptive of an individual who finds it difficult to say no to alcohol. Aside from this, physical alcohol dependence also makes an individual obtain an insatiable craving for alcoholic beverages. It is in this condition that drinking alcohol is seen as an obsession.

Physical effects of addiction to alcohol can be as diverse as the individuals who experience the addiction. However, some of the more common physical effects are passing out, slurred speech, redness in the face, dizziness and clumsiness. Weight loss is also seen as a physical effect of this addiction. Aside from these physical impacts, emotional aspects are also gravely affected by too much alcohol consumption. These are covered by unexplained feelings of being upset or being irrational or being overtly happy beyond reason. Meanwhile, the mental effects of this kind of addiction are also worth considering. Among these effects are irritability and the inability to focus or to concentrate.

Individuals who are addicted to alcohol might be in denial of their conditions. This state of denial happens, more often than not. If you know someone who is going through this challenge, the best thing to do is to seek help for that person. Remember, early intervention can pave the way for less damage. However, do not attempt to counsel an alcoholic person on your own. Cases of alcoholic individuals differ from one another; only a trained therapist or counselor should initiate the necessary intervention.

If you have been diagnosed as addicted to alcohol, drugs or gambling and have been admitted to an addiction recovery clinic, you are given utmost support to recover from your addiction. The staffs of the rehab centre, as well as your family and friends, are also there to help you get through the addiction treatment process. Now that you have finished your detoxification and addiction treatment, what’s next?

What lies ahead of you? If you are serious about living life anew, you should totally put your addiction to past. You should avoid getting tempted to your addiction again. Don’t get into drugs, alcohol and gambling. The temptation can be strong but you can surely battle it out. These after-treatment pointers will help you out:

•	Be committed to change. Unless you personally commits to recovering from addiction, you will go back to your old habits again and again. So tell yourself, that you are finally quitting and there is no way that you are getting back to it.

•	Attend an after-treatment therapy. Some addiction recovery clinics offer after-rehab treatments. This is their way of helping the users face life with bright hopes. Sometimes your own experience can serve as inspiration to others who are trying to recover from their own addictions as well. So spend some time sharing your experience at the rehab centre.

•	Treasure your health. You should understand that maintaining a healthy body is a prerequisite of happy living. When you start to become conscious of your health, avoiding your addiction – drug, alcohol and gambling – will come naturally. Also start prioritising healthy eating habits. When you eat healthily, your body functions well and you will feel content and happy. No need for drugs, alcohol or gambling to keep your well being high.

•	Continue detoxifying. The best way to detoxify the body from all harmful chemicals is to drink plenty of water. It is also believed that water contributes in calming a person’s mood.

•	When the craving for alcohol, drugs or gambling haunts you, divert your attention to something else. Try exercising or going out with friends (no drinking alcohol involved).

•	Maintain a strong spiritual life. The spiritual aspect of a person is also taken cared of at most addiction rehab centres.

Staying away from your old addiction is easy if you are serious about it. The support which your family and friends give you plays an important role as well.

Rehab Today (Perry Clayman Project UK) is a detox and addiction recovery clinic that helps people overcome their addiction over drugs, alcohol, gambling, crack, heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and other drugs. Its detoxification treatments help a person deal with his addiction problem successfully.

What Does an Alcohol Rehab Do?

It is through a rehabilitation center that a person who is addicted to drugs and alcohol will be given attention. This is very important because an addicted person needs to be thoroughly checked and looked after so that if certain problems would arise, it would easily be addressed. As mentioned, there are other treatment options that are open for individuals who need help to fight alcohol and drug addiction, but somewhere along the way, it is the rehab centers that have gained popularity.

According to reports, it was found that these centers have high success ratings and that the chances of withdrawal are easily addressed by these centers. Of course, this does not mean that an addicted person who goes though treatment in these centers would be a surefire successful case. But compared to other types of treatment centers, it is the approach used in alcohol drug rehab centers that are seen as the most effective.

A common treatment used in an alcohol drug rehab center is detoxification. Detoxification is a typical process that an addicted person goes through in the initial stage of the treatment process. Later on, the addicted person who seeks treatment in these centers would then be subjected to several other forms of treatment. These treatment options vary, depending on the extent of the addiction; the types of substance used and sometimes, even the personality of the drug or alcohol dependent. In most cases, what is being considered for treatment is more than just the physical aspect of the addiction. Rather, it also goes into the psychological and the cognitive paradigms in order to ensure that the treatment process can indeed provide satisfactory results.

Due to the prevalence of addiction in drugs and alcohol, it might be easy to find treatment centers. But in choosing the best treatment center, determine first which treatment center can best suit the needs of the addicted person. In addition to that, try to know more about the treatment center before opting to go for it. A treatment center should have a reputable name to ensure that the results it will bring out will do the addicted person a lot of good.

I’m talking about alcohol; is drinking after you’ve completed rehab and therapy for it illegal? Or is that only for drugs like crack and marijuana? Or does rehab not even matter at all?
Before even more cunt flaps call me stupid, know this: I don’t do drugs. I don’t know fucking shit about them. Okay? All I know is my mom is drinking again and my friend was wondering if it’s illegal. I saw her at rehab and they were dealing crack there. Crack is illegal just as marijuana is, so I wouldn’t fucking know. Stop yelling at me behind a computer screen because you do drugs and therefore know more about them. Mkay pumpkins?

By the way, if the question’s been answered, what makes you think I’m gonna pick your shit-tastic one?
Also, I wasn’t asking about the fucking marijuana. I just used it as an example for ‘illegal’ drugs. You people just cannot wait to call people stupid on a question site, can you?

This site is to rid people of ignorance, not assure them on it.

Now get off my cock.

Addiction to alcohol is a disease in which the individual suffers from physical and mental dependence on alcohol. Alcoholics find it very difficult to stay away from alcohol. Alcohol addiction has led to many unwanted consequences such as loss of job, poor financial status, divorce, chronic diseases, etc. Substance and alcohol abuse will only make the addict lead a depressive and stressful life.

If you suspect that your loved is into substance and alcohol abuse, you need to keep a check on his behavior. Here are some actions of your loved ones that can help you understand if he is addicted to drugs or alcohol or not:

1. He starts drinking alcohol or having substance in secret so that his family members and friends do not come to know about it. He will also make great efforts to hide alcohol or drugs in unusual places so that it can be easily accessed by him and others do not find it.

2. If you provide an alcoholic drink to the addict, you will notice that he will not be able his cravings for it and will continue to drink more and more.

3. The addict can suffer from sleepless nights and appear restless if does not get his daily dose of alcohol or drugs. He can also suffer from loss of memory and may not remember the things he said or did while he is high on drugs or alcohol.

4. The addict will get so addicted to drugs or alcohol that he may make use of sentences like ‘I cannot live without it’.

5. He will start borrowing money from friends and family members in order to buy drugs and alcohol. If he does not get money, he may resort to stealing because he is not able to have control over his addiction.

6. If the addict stays away from drugs or alcohol, he can start feeling uncomfortable. The signs of irritability can be easily observed through his behavior. He is likely to go through this kind of withdrawal symptoms if he is asked to leave his addiction.

7. It is a known fact that over the period of time, the addict starts consuming more substance in order to get the same effect. This is a clear sign to understand that the person is addicted to substance.

8. The life of the addict will be full of trouble such as constant fights and arguments with spouse and family members, unhealthy relationships, financial problems, bad health, loss of job, committing of crime, etc.

If you are not addicted to substance and alcohol abuse but suffer some from several symptoms that are give above, you need to rethink about your habits. Even though you may feel you are not addicted to substance, soon a time will come when you will find it difficult to give up your addiction. Your addiction to drugs and alcohol will not only ruin your life but also make the lives of the people around a mess. It is best to act now rather than suffering later.

Many substance abuse services provide the necessary tools to get over not only an alcohol addiction but any other type of addiction. It does not matter if you use prescriptions or street drugs; the fact is there is help available.

What Do Substance Abuse Services Include?

Twelve-step programs are very popular and have been around since the late 1930s. These programs are designed to help the substance abuser change bad habits and own up to all of his past errors that led him to the addiction. The steps are meant to be followed in a certain order and an addict can take as little or as much time as he need to complete each of the steps. There is no set time limit as long as the addict is actively following the steps.

For all types of abuse, there is a program with similar steps that allow an abuser to get over his addiction whether it is to food, shopping, gambling, or some other thing. With a 12-step program, there is reference to a higher power for the addict to draw strength from. This can be God or any other higher power he believes in and helps him to deal with the addiction in a spiritual manner. Past errors are confronted, dissected, and even resolved during treatment. There is a sponsor who, of course, will help the addict get through his addiction by guiding him through each of the 12 steps.

Substance abuse services may mean using a rehab program, detox, or some other form of assistance to get over an addiction. There are many types of services available and the hardest part may just be choosing the one that is right for you. There are programs that can meet the needs of anyone and all it takes is for the addict to do some research.

The person looking for substance abuse services will have to be able to own up to his behaviors and addiction. If the abuser needs help, there is no better way to find it than to be honest and try to be as detailed about the substance abuse as he possibly can. The more honest an addict is about his needs, the better the fit will be in the program that is recommended. Any program an addict chooses will be the right one for him because it will take care of the needs he has that are most important to him.
