Ambein is a NON-benzodiazepine. Even tho it works in the same way, it is NOT a benzo. It does not give an indivual the life-threatning withdrawl effects of high blood pressure, convulsions, heart attacts, etc that occur with benzo’s such as xanax, valium, and clonapin r sudddenly stopped. I’ve taken ambien for months at a time and suddenly stopped, and the only symptom i had was that it took about 2 hours longer to fall asleep for only 2 days. Other than that, that was it. That’s what’s wrong with this country. They control these weak drugs to the point where people get pissed off and end up taking dangerous substances like cocaine, heroin, which in turn causes a higher rate of crime and the indiviudal becoming physcially and psychologically dependent. If the Federal Gov’t would ease up on drugs such as ambien, codeine, and even marijuana, there would be less people going out there to purchase these items illegally in the black market, which causes criminal activity and endangeres society. Would it be better that someone goes to a package store, drinks a bottle of jack daniel’s whisky, and fuckin kills 4 people on the interstate by driving on the wrong side of the highway going 90 MPH. So again, why is ambien, a damn sleeping pilll that just makes u tired without causing pyhsical addiction, a controlled substance. And u need to show a photo Id for picking up ambien? wtf is that! I dont need to show a photo Id if i wanted to purchase Robitussin with DXM, take 8 pills, and trip on them like I was tripping on acid. Or if I wanted to go to the inner-city and get a few bags of heroin, i dont need to show the damn dealer my ID. Humans r just naturally pleasure seeking creatures; thoughout history people from all cultures and walks of life have needed a drug of “mind altering” qualites, for either social events or just to ease the daily stress of life. Even our forefathers that this country was founded on had to find a way to fermentate beer to give them an occasional break from the stresses of society and a way to enjoy the company of others and enhance the partying experience for the social creatures we are. I truly belive that this “war on drugs” is phony and a huge waste of time, and if anything, adds more crime and violence. I do belive drugs such as cocaine, heroin, PCP, and LSD should be illegal, cuz they r physically addicting and people would even kill to get it. But marijuana, sleeping pills, and codeine are petty drugs that cause far less death and violence than the LEGAL alchohol, which in my opinion is one of the most toxic and dangerous drugs in the world. But the US Gov’t recieve money from the taxes on alchohol and tobacco, which is y they will stay legal, even tho there’s scienticfic proof that marijuana causes less damage to ur body than alcohol. Many people in my generation have similar views as I, and very soon we will be the ones running our country, and things will change; for the better. It’s just a matter of time.
Although stress can be that extra burst of adrenaline that helps a person finish a final paper or perform well in sports, this short-term physiological tension and added mental alertness can also lead to adverse mental, emotional, and physical symptoms, such as headaches, depression, and increased anxiety. To find relief from such mental and physical exhaustion caused by stress, many individuals turn to the path of alcohol consumption, illegal drug intake, and even college dropouts. According to the Department of Education figures for 2000 through 2006, thirty percent leave in the first year, and an astonishing fifty percent never graduate, either becoming victims of overabounding stress or other distractions. In order to prevent such harmful side effects and reduce anxiety, students may have to learn to narrow stress to a positive tool, by altering certain habitual addictions and developing a fresh outlook on life.

Real vampires do not necessarily drink blood-in fact, most of them do not. Blood-drinking and vampirism have been confused to the extent that for the average person, a vampire is defined as something that drinks blood (such as a “vampire bat”). But when we look beyond casual assumptions to the details of common beliefs, we find something quite different. Throughout both folklore and literature, there is an understanding that vampires require energy or life force. Many old folktales accept that vampires suck blood, yet never describe this actually happening. The victims slowly decline and waste away, and the survivors assume that some evil fiend is draining them of blood. They know that the Bible says, “the blood is the life”, and anyone who was losing their life force must be losing blood. Yet, in many instances the vampire’s “attack” does not even involve physical contact. In others, it is clearly sexual energy which is exchanged.1
Fresh blood is the highest known source of pranic energy (life force).2 Human beings have practiced blood-drinking for many reasons throughout history, but drinking blood alone does not indicate that a person is a vampire. Only real vampires can directly absorb the pranic energy in fresh blood, and for this reason some real vampires are attracted to blood and find different means of obtaining it.3 However, it is a rare vampire who cannot absorb energy in much more subtle ways. This is the mechanism that causes real vampires to inflict harm on others and themselves if they fail to recognize what is happening and do conscious work on transforming their inner natures. Vampires are no more likely to be either malicious or spiritually aware than the general population, but without awareness, they can spend their lives making themselves and others unhappy, and will continue to incarnate in this pattern until they take action to change it.

You may be in an abusive relationship if he or she:
Is jealous or possessive toward you.
(Jealousy is the primary symptom of abusive relationships; it is also a core component of Sexual Addictions and Love Addiction.)
Tries to control you by being very bossy or demanding.
Tries to isolate you by demanding you cut off social contacts and friendships.
Is violent and / or loses his or her temper quickly.
Pressures you sexually, demands sexual activities you are not comfortable with.
Abuses drugs or alcohol.
Claims you are responsible for his or her emotional state. (This is a core diagnostic criteria for Codependency.)
Blames you when he or she mistreats you.
Has a history of bad relationships.
Your family and friends have warned you about the person or told you that they are concerned for your safety or emotional well being.
You frequently worry about how he or she will react to things you say or do.
Makes “jokes” that shame, humiliate, demean or embarrass you, weather privately or around family and friends.
Your partner grew up witnessing an abusive parental relationship, and/or was abused as a child.
Your partner “rages” when they feel hurt, shame, fear or loss of control.
Both parties in abusive relationships may develop or progress in drug or alcohol dependence in a (dysfunctional) attempt to cope with the pain.
You leave and then return to your partner repeatedly, against the advice of your friends, family and loved ones.
You have trouble ending the relationship, even though you know inside it’s the right thing to do.
Does the person you love…
constantly keep track of your time?

About a year ago, I had to have a surgery and they gave me pain killers afterward. I was prescribed to be on the medicine for four days, then the pills would run out. When I ran out, I was going through slight withdrawal symptoms: anxiety and mood swings. I haven’t gone looking for pain killers or anything, but I find comfort in knowing that I will get more if I ever need another surgery.
The whole point to that story was to tell you that I’m easily addicted to things.
The other day though, I was just sitting in my room and I had the unbelievable urge to smoke. I have never smoked nor have I ever been around a lot of smoke. My hands were starting to get clammy and I couldn’t concentrate on what I was doing. I don’t understand this. Am I addicted to smoking when I am never even around smoke?
I’ve read some answers to other questions and some people say that it is based on a person’s personality. Believe me, I am the last person you would suspect to have addiction problems. My friends would laugh themselves to tears at the thought of if. I’m very happy, I have a wonderful family, and everything like that. Is something wrong with me?
I know it’s not smart considering what I’ve told you, but I had my first drink a couple of months ago for my 21st b-day. Just one drink. Not even enough to make me buzzed and I have been trying to control the urge to raid my brother’s alcohol cabinet since then.

After getting into rehab and off her addiction, my sister has developed (or re-introduced) depression and she’s taking a variety of antidepressant medications (concurrently zolofts, celexa, belbutrin etc.) for the past year. The last one now (Prozac 40-60 mg) had Lamictral added (an anti-convulsant/bi-polar med), but a diagnosis of bi-polar has not been confirmed . She told me that on Saturday she took about 9 Desyrel pills (thinking that they were 25mg pills when they were 50mg pills = 450mg). She was previously complaining about having very bad memory, confusion etc.
I called her on Sunday afternoon, and she was miserable, I checked on her and she was all bruised and had a small hematoma on her back head. I asked her what had happened, and she said that she went to the bathroom last night and found herself on the floor twice (in the bathroom and later in the sleeping room) with has no recollection of what had happened (not feeling dizzy, or nauseated, not remembering the fall, just waking up confused, unknowing how long it had been etc. We helped her out a bit, and let her sleep (we didn’t know about the meds at this time).

They both have similiar effects, in fact the only real difference I can see is that pure cocaine is slightly more toxic than pure caffeine. 3-4 cups of strong coffee back to back is enough to kill you or at least cause serious intoxication. The reason most people dont die from caffeine is that its not given out in pure form as cocaine is. I dont want to hear that cocaine is dangerous or addictive because caffeine is just as addictive and people show similiar withdrawal symptoms.
The thing most people dont realize about cocaine is that the form found on the streets is highly concentrated pure cocaine hydroxide…PURE things will cause bad effects and addiction…the actual coca leaf only contains 0.2% cocaine hydrochloride which is not an effective dose. The same as if you took a bottle of Everclear(90-proof pure alcohol) and tried to drink it you would die…is the same as if u took pure cocaine and tried to consume excess quantities. The danger is not in the drug but the dosage.
The intensity is caused by the concentrated product of cocaine hydrochloride though. We cant go and buy concentrated, pure caffeine. The coca leaf itself is not dangerous and would give a legal outlet for impoverished farmers in south america to sell their product.
Oh yea..and as the guy below me said…all the street violence would end if these drugs were legal. Pfizer and other drug companies would take over their distribution and there would be no money to be made in selling the drugs on the streets.
I’m pretty close with my mom, but she’s going through a hard time breaking up with her fiance (now possibly getting back together) and I think I have depression . I used to have it, but got taken off the pills, but now I want to go back on them because I think I have it again.
These are all my symptoms :
