Drug Addiction, cocaine, alcohol, cannabis?
How do you define an addictive substance?
I.e Cocaine does not have terrible physical withdrawal symptoms but few would argue that it is not physically addictive.
Cannabis also has no terrible withdrawal symptoms but most conclude that it is psychologically addictive but not physically addictive.
Alcohol: is it an addictive substance or a disease as the AA claim?
How do you define addiction?

It has proved difficult to produce an all encompassing definition of addiction. This one has however been proposed as an attempt to be inclusive:
Essentially, addiction designates a process whereby a behaviour, that can function both to produce pleasure and to provide escape from internal discomfort, is employed in a pattern characterised by recurrent failure to control the behaviour (powerlessness) and continuation of the behaviour despite significant negative consequences (unmanageability).
