You don’t need alcohol to have fun. And you get to laugh at all your friends making a fool of themselves ;) And no more “morning after”s!

It maybe hard at the first but soon you will not miss alcohol and feel much better for it. Don’t be afraid to ask your family and friends for their support. The person who keeps offering you drink is not a friend.

i’m 41 and quit drinking at 18 and don’t take refined sugar, or tobacco or other drugs. If I hadn’t stopped drinking i would have killed myself in a depression, instead I’m healthy as a horse, with a body any 20 year old would like to have. Life without booze isn’t the end of the world, I still love to go to friends’ parties, and I’m the one playing guitar when we are falling asleep singing at 3am!

    One day at a time.

    You can do it.

Just think of all the money you will save!

Not having alcohol isnt bad! It means that you wake up on a Saturday or Sunday morning refreshed and ready to go hill walking or something fun and energetic!

Alcohol turns you into a different person, you say things you normally wouldnt, you do things you normally wouldnt and quite often you get into arguments with people you dont want to fight with.

And think of the money you will save! It is about £3 a drink in a bar, and a bottle of wine to have at home is at least £10 for a good one.

You will feel healthier and happier, look at it as a good thing, Time to start living as who you are, and not as a boozy version of you!!

I choose not to drink. You will still be able to have an odd glass on special occasions if you want!

None of your family and friends would like to see you suffer with some horrible liver disease or diabetes. Don`t forget they love you so you do your best for them. There are other things to enjoy in lifeas you will discover.

    Good Luck .J

it might sound upsetting right now….but you’ll be better off without it because alcohol is a depressant, and it’s probably causing most of yours misery…

  • BigMug posted: 12 Oct at 3:02 pm

The fact that these things cause the misery means once you’ve conquered the withdrawel you’ll find yourself again. The confidence that comes naturally is much more attractive than any that come with alcohol and such, getting drunk on ‘life’ is so much more fun and no hangovers.
Sobriety doesn’t mean misery, you can be fun and reckless without alcohol it’s a controlled fun and more honest and attractive.
Good luck, stick to your guns and don’t bow to peer pressure, prove you don’t need stimulants to have fun, who knows you may start a trend.

It’s all about standing up and coming to grips with your mind, which dont like the thought of never having a drink again. So you say to yourself, look I only have not to take a drin TODAY Anyone ca fight the battles of just one day ! Tomorrow I can have a hundred drinks of I want Yeah and maybe I will. That gets you through today. Then when tomorrow comes you do the same thing. Its easier of you tell yourself” theres an ocean of booze out there and I can have it whenever I want.” Then your mind says, hey, this aint so bad after all. I dont have to quit forever, just for today, and even today I can have it if I want. Nobodys going to stop me. Then eventually your mind will go “what the **** was I all lathered up about?”"I havent had a drink for months and I’m still here, and this is way better than pouring that guk into myself”". So its one day at a time, thats all you need to stop for…just for today ! And by the way, the First Step of A.A.is “We admitted we were powerless over Alcohol and our lives had become unmanageable”. You do not know how blessed you are that you can come here and acknowledge your problem….the operative word with 99.9 % of alcohol abusers is DENIAL. Good Luck and here’s to ya !

Ok, so why is reality so tough to handle that you need the support of drink wherein you are liable to make ‘reality’ even broader and tougher and thus even more Dangerous for you (at least).

With drink, life and it’s dangers become closer to you (you put yourself at risk to all kinds of Dangers). Without the drink, the dangers lessen and you are open to the pleasures that life can and does bring with it.

You just have to be open to these things and not trying to avoid them and those parts of yourself that seems to require you to anaesthetise yourself from.

Seek help wherever you need it ….and I wish you Good Luck.

    Sash.

There’s nothing wrong with a life without alcohol, i’m 20 and used to drink wen i was younger, now i haven’t even had a sip of alcohol in 4 years.
I’ve seen and experienced what alcohol can do and i haven’t touched a drop since.
Alcohol is a curse i’ve seen good intelligient people waste their lives on it.
You should count it as a blessing not to be able to drink alcohol, believe me.
