From Addict to Ironman – Racing for Recovery on ESPN
Todd Crandell is the founder and serves as the Executive Director of Racing for Recovery. After surviving his 13 year drug and alcohol addiction by becoming sober on April 15, 1993, Crandell began competing in the Ironman Triathlon (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, 26.2 marathon run) as a healthy alternative and ultimately form the non-profit organization, Racing for Recovery, to help others. Our mission at Racing for Recovery is to prevent all forms of substance abuse and to provide positive alternatives for those currently battling addictions by encouraging a lifestyle of fitness and health through 5K Run/Walk events across the nation. Racing for Recovery is a federally approved 501 c 3 non-profit organization.
