I’m recovering from alcohol addiction.. Question about relapse?
I’ve been sober since October 3 after drinking heavily for 2 years. I’m enjoying my sobriety but because of my addictive personality, i know i am gonna eventually relapse sooner or later. When i first got sober the nurse gave me librium because i was suffering bad withdrawals, so my question is will i get the withdrawals back immediately after relapse or will it take many months of drinking again to get those same withdrawals….
i hope my question makes. thanks in advance to those who take the time to answer

Withdrawl only happens when your body actually becomes dependent on alcohol to function.
If you relapse and go out and have a night of drinking, you’re not going to have withdrawls.
If you go out drinking, then wake up in the morning and have a drink … and so on until you’re back on a heavy drinking schedule, yes, you’ll experience withdrawl.

You should congratulate yourself. Also you may not eventually go back to alcohol. Try now to really enjoy the sobriety and also find some natural highs such as running, yoga or ways to turn inside spiritually. If you build these up the “need” for alcohol will be replaced by something healthier and more uplifiting.
